SNOW!

We have snow, people! And it actually STUCK! Chase was released from daycare at 10am and I was so jealous when Brian called to say they were making a snowman:

Then I got to come home at 2:00 to join in the fun. Snow is much more fun when you don't have to deal with it on a daily basis! We ate the snow...

...and put our heads in the snow (Don't ask me why, but Chase thought it would be fun. He had to show me the proper technique and everything):

As you can probably guess, I used Chase's camera again for these photos. Of course after we came inside I found mine, which was a bittersweet moment. I was happy to find it, but bummed I didn't have it BEFORE I went outside to take pictures in the snow! Oh, well. At least I have it back!

Happy Snow Day!

Katie & Ashlyn Visit

Brian was presenting at a conference in New Orleans this weekend, so Katie and her daughter Ashlyn came for a visit! It was so much fun just hanging out with one of my best friends in the world. We ordered pizza, ate Ben & Jerry's ice cream out of the tub and BAWLED (like, literally sobbed) through "My Sister's Keeper." Omigod that movie was sad.

Anyway, I was bound and determined to get some pictures of Chase and Ashlyn playing together, but (are you ready for this?) I CAN'T FIND MY CAMERA. I think I'm going to die. But then this morning as we were all hanging out in the playroom upstairs I looked over and saw the camera my parents got Chase for Christmas, so I pulled that out and snapped a couple photos. The quality is not great, but at least I got SOMETHING!

After I took a couple shots Chase got really excited about the camera and decided to have some fun of his own snapping photos. Here's a small sample of his camerawork. He took pictures of Katie:

What can I say? He's a leg man, apparently. He did get a couple decent ones after a little lesson in "point, THEN shoot:"

P.S. I should get major extra credit mom points for posting a pic of me in my PJ's with bedhead. Katie would shoot me if I posted the one of her. Love you, Katie!!

Pregnancy Update: 20 Weeks

We had our first ultrasound today and the baby looks 100% healthy and the doctor said he could tell she was really smart. Ha ha! And yes, I said "she." Looks like we're having a girl! Here are some ultrasound photos. Here's her face:

Any clue what it is? Give up? It's the gallbladder. Ha ha ha! She probably printed it for us as a joke because when she pointed it out we were like, "OK, whatever you say. We believe you!" How they find all that stuff is unbelievable to me.

Anyway, we were just happy to hear she was totally healthy. Phew!

Afterwards Brian and I went shopping around for Chase's "big boy room" furniture, which is going to be our Spring Break project. Fun! I have been wanting to redecorate his room for a long time, but we knew it would be a special "big brother" treat for him if we waited til baby #2 came along.

Now to discuss names! It's hard to believe I'm half-way there!

Mizzou Game!

Last Saturday we went to the Mizzou game at Baylor, thanks to tickets Brian got from his sister for Christmas. We had a good time. Chase was a bit stir crazy, but we managed. Once he saw the Baylor Bear mascot, all he wanted to do the whole game was go meet the bear and say hi. So toward the end when the game was getting the most stressful for Brian, Chase and I literally chased down the bear. He was in the stands on the other side of the stadium, so I counted the doors and we went for a walk. I went as far as I thought I needed to go and we walked in only to find out we had gone too far! So we backtracked, called Brian on his cell to say, "Do you see us? Do you see the bear? Where do we have to go?" He steered us in the right direction and we eventually caught up to him. Chase said hi and gave him a high five and then he was pretty happy. It was still a long game for him to sit through, but he did pretty well, considering he's three! Anyway, here are some pics from the game (again, taken with my phone, since I somehow forgot my camera... shame on me!):

He has a new habit of wanting his head covered up when he sleeps. It is so weird to me!

Super Bowl Sunday Comfort

We are all sitting around watching the Super Bowl. Chase didn't think Daddy looked comfortable enough, so he helped him out:

(I have no idea why I feel the need to apologize for that!)

Anyway, Brian (apparently hot... imagine that!) suggested that Chase cover ME up with all the blankets and pillows next, and my darling child's response was, "No, Mommy's too big!"

:O *gasp!*

I'm not THAT big yet!! Thanks, son. Mommy loves you, too.

Valentine's Day Surprise

My husband is unbelievable.

When I got home I went to use the restroom and noticed a Valentine's card sitting on top of Brian's reading material:

I got so excited and thought, "Oh, Brian.... You really need to remember to hide my gifts!" I mean, It wasn't the first time I had found a card of mine lying around. So of course I opened it:

Can't read it? I'll help you. "I want to spoil you in a very special way. I've planned for you a spa weekend in Vegas where you'll get the pampering you deserve. I've made arrangements for you to enjoy this gift whenever your heart desires as long as it's on of these following dates: [lists dates]."

I thought it was a little weird to have blackout dates, but I didn't care. I was going to VEGAS, BABY! Woo hoo! I could barely contain my excitement.

Then I noticed the open magazine under it, with the ad: "Only Vegas: Spas for her. Sports for you."

I walked out and confronted Brian. "You can't leave an advertisement like this laying around! Do you know how crushed I am right now?!? I thought we were going to Vegas!" He just started laughing and confessed...

He had put it there on purpose.

Yes, just to mess with me.

Is that love, or what?

Pregnancy Update: 17 Weeks

I had a doctor's appointment this morning and we got to hear the heartbeat again. I was also slapped in the face with the news that I had to have TWO flu shots! I had the H1N1 in one arm and the regular flu shot in the other. I seriously almost cried when they told me I had to have shots. The nurse said, "If you can't get through a flu shot, you'll never get through labor!" I told her I already went through one labor and Brian added that I had even had an epidural. She said, "Have you SEEN the epidural needle? It is HUGE!"

Ummmmm.... NO! Like I would ever look directly at a needle... EVER! Let alone one that was going into my spine! And at that time I didn't care WHAT they did to me!

At any rate, I survived the shots and I'm happy to report I haven't had any side effects (except maybe being extra tired)... *knock on wood.* I'm so glad I have a good immune system!

Our first ultrasound is coming soon. I'm just waiting for the phone call to schedule it. Can't wait to see what we're having!
