Happy 4th Birthday, Chloe!

Wow. My baby girl is FOUR!!!!

It is so hard to believe.

We started celebrating her birthday a day early with a pool party!

Her Florida grandparents were able to come, and they got wet, too!

Chloe had to have a "Frozen" themed birthday party, and Chase made the decorations:

He was soooooo sweet about them.  He worked really hard to make them special for her.  It was seriously one of the most precious things.  I'm so proud of how much they love each other (when they aren't fighting)!  Lol

Anyway....

Of course I had to do my motherly duty and make her cake, themed with the party.  I was going to make one of these types of cakes, but with her favorite "Frozen" princess, Elsa:

However, all the real Elsa dolls I found were crazy expensive, and I wasn't about to spend that kind of money on a doll I was going to shove in a cake!  So I did a search for other ideas and ultimately decided on "Frozen" cake pops, which I am so happy to report turned out very well:

Apparently they tasted good, too:

After cake it was time for presents!

Chase was so excited about her presents, too, but I was so proud of how he let her have her space and do it herself... and she was so eager to share what she got with him:

For her actual birthday we all went out to Gattiland.  This time Grandpa baked the cake and she was able to blow out candles (it was too windy to do candles at the pool party)!

Apparently his cake tasted pretty good, too:

After all that we played games.  Air hockey was a favorite...

...as well as this thing (whatever it's called):

They rode this thing many times, and we had a ball just watching their cheeks jiggle!

Man, I have awesome kids (if I do say so myself).

Happy Birthday, Baby Girl!!

Party Boat!

This weekend the kids and I took a 6-hour boat trip on Lake Travis. We rented a party boat with a bunch of other families and it was so fun!  They made some new friends, we got to swim...

...and they loved feeding the fish:

Unfortunately that also meant we all had to swim in a sea of chips:

Chase even got to drive the boat on the way back!

There was also a big slide on the boat and Chase got the courage to go down it all by himself!  I wish I had been able to get a picture of it, but I was in the water at the time.

I love summer!!

Chase's Taekwondo Experience

Chase has been taking Taekwondo for a couple months and he just earned his orange belt! It all started with a quick lesson on the basics:

He worked hard in class and even had to do push-ups!  His form was way too adorable:

I even took a self-defense class with a friend of mine, and it was awesome!

(Don't mess with us!!)

We got to break boards and I had the battle scars to prove it (which only looked scarier over time):

Using videos I took in class, combined with my own notes that were full of non-martial arts terms such as "downstage left" and "2nd position" (ballet), Chase and I practiced hard at home for his test to prepare:

In the end he earned his orange belt, which he is so very proud of!

GO CHASE!!!!

Happy Birthday to ME!!

Man, I love my birthday. Seriously, I hope I never get to the point where I dread the day.

This year for my 37th (yikes), the kids and I did what has kind of become a tradition....  We hit the sprinkler pad!

Man, that picture makes me LAUGH.  Chloe's expression is priceless!  Go ahead... click on it to make it bigger.  I promise it won't disappoint.

We also had our traditional FaceTime birthday party with my mom, who graciously shares her birthday with me!

The kids got me that fabulous cake, along with these lovely gifts:

My precious "Frozen" wand has somehow made its way into Chloe's room.  Go figure.

They also got me lovely cards, including this one from Chase:

He couldn't wait for me to open the envelope.  When I saw it I just busted out laughing and he couldn't contain himself, either.  That is so my son!  Love it.

We also played with silly string outside, thanks to an amazing friend of mine.  Chloe wanted nothing to do with it, but Chase was really sad when it ran out:

Yeah, that amazing friend had a good (albeit slightly evil) laugh when I noted later how fun it was to clean off my porch:

Happy Birthday to meeeeee!!!!
