Chase in Heels

I promise it was his idea, not mine!

Now, if you know anything about my shoe obsession you are probably amazed at how low the heels on this pair are. I will tell you that the ones Chase originally wanted to wear were not safe! So I dug this pair out, which I bought after wearing my monster high heels every day my first week of teaching and decided that maybe every once in awhile I should give my feet a break (this was after I lost feeling in three of my toes and didn't get that feeling back for literally MONTHS).

P.S. Please pardon Brian's dissertation all over our living room floor.... ;)

Time for a Gate!

We have been fortunate up to this point that Chase couldn't open doors. Our bedroom is on the first floor, his is on the second. So when we put him to bed at night and closed his bedroom door he was tucked in safe and sound. Well, this morning he woke up as usual and played for awhile in his room while we got ready. I walked into the kitchen and I heard him laugh, clear as day. "That's weird," I thought. "The monitor is in our bedroom." I turned around and there he was, laughing at me as he walked down the stairs... so pleased with himself!

So I guess it's time to put a baby gate up so he doesn't decide he wants to venture downstairs at 2:00 in the morning in the pitch black! I am sad to have to do that, because you could tell he was so excited about his newfound independence!

They always say time flies by with kids, but it honestly does seems like just yesterday he was this little baby and I couldn't believe I would ever turn around to see my big boy walking down the stairs, asking me if he could have oatmeal for breakfast. Crazy!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa K!

Today is my dad's 65th birthday, so here is a special birthday wish from Chase to his Grandpa. Don't pay any attention to the video... just make sure your audio is turned up!

(I knew he'd never do it if he knew there was a camera there.... He's like Brian that way!)

New Friends and New Steps

I signed Chase and myself up for another parent/child music class that started in January. The class was recommended by a new friend of mine that lives in our neighborhood. She has a son, Tyler, who is just 8 months older than Chase. Now the four of us see each other every Tuesday night for our Kindermusik class, and over the past month Chase and Tyler have become friends. This weekend we all met up at the park and the kids had a great time (we did, too)! Here's a picture of the little buddies taking a snack break:

And I just thought I'd share a little video also, while I'm on here. Chase has been working on walking (vs. crawling) up the stairs. He isn't strong enough yet but if he holds one of our hands he can do it with a lot of effort... so much effort, in fact, that he actually grunts. Make sure your sound is up!

Wow

I just had to share this. This version of the Star Spangled Banner was sung at a Texas Tech University Basketball game by five elementary school girls. The two young ladies on the right are six years old, the two in the middle are seven and the one on the left is eight. Unbelievable!

It's Raining!

We introduced Chase to the shower last night after his bath, just for fun. He loved the "rain" and made Daddy get in with him (fully clothed)! He was not too happy when Daddy decided to get out, and even unhappier when we told him it was time to get out himself. Check it out:

Death Threat

I got a text message from my mom yesterday that sounded eerily like a death threat if I didn't post some updated photos of Chase on the blog. So here are a couple of him playing outside today:

I took this one right before I got hit by the ball:

Mom, hope that satisfies you (at least for the time being)! Chase says, "Buh-bye, Grandma!"

(More photos of our fun in the yard today are in our Photo Album if you're interested.)
