Spring Break

For Spring Break this year the kids and I took another "mini vacation" and explored the Austin area.  We started with a game of bowling:

Miraculously, I won!

We had to celebrate with frozen yogurt:

From there we went downtown and checked into our hotel so the kids could go swimming:

That night we ordered room service pizza...

...and watched a movie.  The kids camped out in their new sleeping bags:

After another trip to the pool in the morning...

...I introduced the kids to ice skating!

I hadn't skated myself since high school (and I wasn't any good then!), but it was a fun experience!  I was really proud of Chase because when we first headed out he didn't get 5 feet before he started to cry and said he didn't want to do it anymore.  I encouraged him to keep trying and not give up, and by the end he started venturing out on his own (he even let go of the wall a few times!) and turned that frown up-side-down!

Chloe was in a pissy mood when we first got there but she managed to snap out of it and she picked skating up pretty quickly.  She refused to go anywhere without me, but she moved well and had fun!  Chase took this photo of us.  I wish the TV reflection hadn't been right there, but oh well!

In the beginning I worried the whole thing was going to be a bust, but in the end we all had a great time:

After that we all went to see the movie Frozen.  When we pulled into the movie theatre parking lot I turned around to find this:

I took that as a sign of a great trip!

More photos are in our Photo Album if you're interested!
